Das ›Magazin4‹ wird für die kommenden zwei Jahre die ‚klassische‘ Ausstellungsstruktur verlassen. Stattdessen werden in dem prozessual angelegten Projekt ›six memos for the next …‹ Einzelereignisse und Langzeitprojekte in veränderter Form ineinander greifen. Es geht um eine Neubefragung der Relevanz der Kunst und ihrer Inszenierung. Sechs Begriffe, die wie der Titel des Projekts von Italo Calvino geliehen sind, geben hierfür sechs Perspektiven: Leichtigkeit, Schnelligkeit, Genauigkeit, Anschaulichkeit, Vielschichtigkeit und Beständigkeit.

›six memos for the next …‹ unternimmt den Versuch, Begegnungen zwischen Kunstwerk, Künstler und Publikum ebenso lustvoll wie präzise neu zu denken. Die Startphase bestimmt ein ›Verhau*‹ mit fünfzig Werken von fünfzig Künstlern, aus dem das kuratorische Team, bestehend aus Wolfgang Fetz, Jörg van den Berg, Sandra Boeschenstein, Barbara Köhler, Schirin Kretschmann und Tilo Schulz, bis zum Sommer immer neue Inszenierungen entwickelt. Der Besucher begegnet in dieser Zeit ständig (es wird keine umbaubedingten Schließzeiten geben) neuen Konstellationen. Dreimal (22. März | 3. Mai | 6. Juli) verdichten sich diese zu mehrstündigen Ereignissen für Publikum, Künstler und Theoretiker. Den Auftakt zur Reihe macht Sven Johnes ›The Greatest Show on Earth‹. Ein Video, das für zwei Wochen solitär im Raum zu sehen sein wird und wie ein – durchaus auch selbstironisches – Vorwort funktioniert, ehe dann am 22. März (19 bis 23 h) eine Ausstellungsaufführung folgt.

The Project

›Magazin4‹ is going to leave the classic exhibition structure for the next two years. Single events and long term projects will intertwine in the process-related project ›six memos for the next …‹, in a modified form. It is about a newly inquired relevance of art and its staging. Like the titel of the project, six terms are borrowed from Italo Calvino – hence, six perspectives: lightness, rapidness, accurateness, clearness, complexity and consistency.

›six memos for the next …‹ undertakes the attempt to rethink encounters between artwork, artist and audience with precision and predilection. With fifty works by fifty artists the starting phase is determined by a Verhau (entanglement) which the curatorial team – consisting of  Wolfgang Fetz, Jörg van den Berg, Sandra Boeschenstein, Barbara Köhler, Schirin Kretschmann and Tilo Schulz – is going to develop new stagings over and over again until summer. During this time the visitor will  constantly b confronted with new constellations. (There will be no closure time due to rebuilding). Three dates: March 22nd / May 3rd / July 6th will concentrate on extended events for the audience, the artists and theoreticians. The prelude of the series will be held by Sven Johne’s ›The Greatest Show on Earth‹: A single video, quite self-deprecating, will be shown alone in one room for two weeks which functions as preamble.
